Sequential Figure & Ground

This exercise allowed me to further explore the relationship between shapes found in common typefaces. The most successful part of this assignment is found in the flow from the topmost “P” through the “r”. The negative space here flows the most and creates a lot of fun features such as the “1” hidden and perched on top of the “g” creating an echoing little triangle from the “o” it breaks up. The tail of the “g” flows seamlessly into the stem of the “r”. The “P” and “4” combination have served as great inspiration for logos for their readability and strong representation of positive and negative space.
